Extended Biography
Growing up
Eric Herrera was born in the South side of Chicago; he is the youngest of three, his brother and sister's names are Hugo Enrique and Perla. For Eric childhood was always a struggle; when it wasn't his brother being a gangster in the Latin Kings and MS 13 at different stages of his life, it was Eric being picked on for his size. After a full day of coming home battered and bruised, he enjoyed coming home to watch wrestling the most. It was his escape from a life that he normally would wish came to an end already; wrestling gave him hope for a brighter future someday. He grew up looking up to the Cruiserweight Division in most wrestling companies, the people that jumped out at him as role models being Rey Mysterio Jr., Chris Jericho, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, Juventud Guerrera, and Dean Malenko. People that weren't normally known for their size but they found a way around it with their speed and intelligence. When he was nine, Hugo's involvement in gangs constantly putting the family in jeopardy caused them to move to El Centro, California in hopes of a brighter future.
It was during those days that Eric dreamed of being a professional wrestler, always making promises to his family that someday he would finally be able to make it. His family would make fun of him for being stupid in their own mind and try to force their traditions onto him. The family had a deeply rooted tradition of working in the car industry, which Eric found to be rather pathetic. They also had their Catholic Religion which they also tried to force down his throat all for Eric to declare himself an atheist. The family hated him so much for it, it caused him to be the outcast of the family to the point where they even cut his cable thinking that wrestling caused all of this. Eric never gave up though, he would always find a back door for everything. He would save up enough money to buy an antenna then fool them into thinking he wanted to watch cartoons or soccer games with his uncle. But then when the door would be closed, he would turn to Galavision to see lucha libre, Mexican style of wrestling.
He would mute the television and watch in excitement as the high flying style of his favorite superstars gave him hope for the future. Seeing them get wins without even using strength taught him a lot of lessons, like how to trick bullies at school into defeating themselves so to speak. Once he got to high school, he signed up to the wrestling team behind his mother's back. When he would come home battered and bruised, he would lie to his mother and say he was in the football team. With his sisters and brothers being married by then, they would not have any clue on if he was telling the truth. While his brother and sister, along with his mother, didn't get to complete high school he became the first to actually bring a high school diploma to the kitchen table. Except it was met with anger because they thought he was trying to rub salt in their wounds; having been the outcast for rebelling against the family, he was forced to celebrate at his friends' houses.
The dream becomes a reality
After he graduated from high school, he told his mother that he was going to move to Canada for school. His mom thought he was crazy at first, but at the end just like any ordinary mother she wanted him to be happy. So he left, but left out that the school was for wrestling. It was there that he trained with Chris Benoit and learned more about the business he's loved since he was old enough to walk. Once he finally finished training, he moved back home and competed in AAA and CMLL often competing for very low paychecks. He would voluntarily take paycuts in order to live out his dream at any means necessary.
When his family found out, they wouldn't even open the door to their house. They called him a traitor and said they never wanted to hear from him again. He was left with his high school girlfriend, Veronica Rodriguez, being his only "family" to walk home to. They have known each other since they were in Junior High when they were best friends, only becoming a couple in high school. After four years of wrestling in Mexico, the dream finally became a reality as Eric Herrera and Veronica Rodriguez got signed by Lizard King to 3CW with Veronica being his manager in promos.
